Description
Salehe Bembury's second reimagining of the New Balance 2002R draws inspiration from Havasu Falls in Arizona's Grand Canyon, translating aquatic journeys into wearable form. The "Water Be The Guide" collaboration captures the juxtaposition of cold and warm colors through a striking deep teal colorway, complemented by warm earth tones. Premium materials including hairy suede, leather, and mesh create a sophisticated aesthetic that honors both water's fluidity and nature's grounding elements, making this a standout piece for those who appreciate design rooted in genuine inspiration and craftsmanship.
Hairy Suede and Leather Construction
The upper combines luxurious hairy suede with premium leather overlays in teal and brown tones, creating textural depth and visual interest. These materials work together to capture the essence of Havasu Falls, delivering both tactile richness and durability that elevates the sneaker beyond standard construction standards.
Cushioned Midsole with Gel Support
The 2002R pairs a 2002 upper with an 860v2 sole unit, featuring a combination of ABZORB and ABZORB DTS gel inserts throughout the heel. This hybrid cushioning system balances softness with responsive support, ensuring all-day comfort without sacrificing the structural integrity needed for extended wear.
Cork-Finished Insole with Signature Branding
The insole showcases a cork-like material construction with New Balance and Salehe Bembury branding stamped in white on the heel. This premium detail adds personality to the interior while providing natural moisture-wicking properties, reinforcing the shoe's commitment to quality across every touchpoint.
Desert Explorer Weekend Look
Pair with oversized earth-toned cargo pants, a cream linen shirt, and a vintage canvas jacket. Layer with a structured tote bag and add wire-rimmed sunglasses for an effortless adventure-ready aesthetic that complements the shoe's nature-inspired storytelling and warm undertones.
Urban Minimalist Daily Rotation
Combine with black tapered trousers, a crisp white tee, and a tailored charcoal overshirt. Finish with a sleek leather crossbody bag and minimalist jewelry to let the shoe's striking teal colorway stand as the statement piece while maintaining sophisticated everyday wearability.
Outdoor Technical Casual Blend
Layer technical outdoor pieces - weatherproof joggers and a lightweight performance jacket - with the 2002R's hybrid aesthetic. Add a structured backpack and utility accessories to create an intentional outdoor-inspired look that bridges contemporary streetwear with functional adventure-ready styling and practical sensibility.
